On a fairly unrelated note, I was contacted by the APW gallery in New York to submit some work into a show they are holding - imagine my utter excitement when I first read this, and then my utter dismay when I learned exactly what a vanity gallery is and why APW is one. Note that this gallery is not a scam, not in the true sense of the word (there is actually a gallery, and they will actually show work submitted), but you don't need to have any talent to get in, only the ability to pay the entry fee (which in this case was only 50 bucks, but as a student, that's 50 I don't have to send to a gallery that then has no incentive to truly display my work - they've made their money already from me and the other artists who submitted). I'm not painting to make money, I'm painting because I love it - as such, I am not particularly worried about getting public exposure, though of course I love attention as much as the next person
